What are our special clinics ?
Our Clinic for Expectant Mum’s, Children and Babies
The Woodside Clinic’s therapists work closely as a team – by regularly attending practice meetings together, discussing patient treatments and, when appropriate, cross referring patients between each other. There are also two groups of therapists who work together to offer special clinic provisions. These can be accessed by any patient. All you need to do is discuss your requirements with one of our receptionists and they will book you in accordingly.

What treatments are available ?
Several of our therapists have a special interest in the treatment of pregnant ladies and/or children and babies. We work closely with many local Doctors and we are more than happy to discuss your case with any health professional, with your consent.
The Osteopaths may be able to help relieve a variety of mechanical problems in women who are “expecting” or who require treatment to prepare their bodies for the stresses and strains of pregnancy (including back pain, symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), sacro-iliitis and other pelvic girdle problems). A cranial osteopathic approach is often used. This type of approach is also effective in the treatment of babies.
We have two Acupuncturists, Alistair and Ron, who have enormous experience and an interest in the treament of infertility. They have studied treatment approaches to an advanced level. Our Physiotherapists complement the other treatments by providing stability and “core-related” exercises.
Pilates is a key component of our expectant Mum’s and pre-pregnancy provision. Our Pilates teachers have also studied, to advanced level, working with those preparing for pregnancy and those who are “expecting”.
Pilates may help to improve pelvic stability and reduce the potential for problems such as symphysis pubis and back pain during pregnancy.
Additional information is available by downloading any of the following leaflets:

What makes this approach special
Although patients visit us on other days, our “Special Clinic” days are arranged to allow several specialising therapist to work together to offer a real team approach. There’s also the opportunity for your therapist to call in one of their colleagues as/when it’s thought that their input might be helpful.
Costs
Costs for each treatment are the same as they would be outside of the special clinic provision.
Minor Sports Injury Clinic
Sportsmen and women often have expectations and needs which are particular to their sports, their training schedules, the state at which they are in their careers and, often the expectations of their team members and/or coach. Sports medicine is now recognised as a discrete medical speciality, not least because many of the conditions suffered in the sporting arena (“jumpers knee”, Osgood Schlatter’s disease and “Tibial Torsion” syndrome) are almost exclusively suffered as a result of sports related activities.
Several of our therapists have a special interest in the treatment of sports injuries. Our specialist Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Sports Massage therapists, Pilates instructors and Podiatrists have, between them, treated many sports men and women. We’re used by all levels of sporting abilities – from local league sides, occasional joggers and sporting beginners as well as professional atheletes. You may find choosing which treatment to start with a little difficult, so we’re always happy for you to discuss your requirements before you make an appointment. However if your therapist feels that another approach might be more effective, he/she will be more than happy to ‘cross-refer’.
What can we help you with ?
Our approach can be as comprehensive as you wish; from providing a couple of treatments to aid recovery, up to a full treatment, rehabilitation and fitness programme. Complaints commonly treated at our clinics include:
